Pre-diabetes and diabetes rates continuing to grow

Nearly 50% of American adults (rates will be similar in many other Western countries like NZ), have either pre-diabetes or diabetes, raising their risk of heart attacks, blindness, amputations and cancer... 

The latest 2014 Federal health statistics show:

  • 12.3% of Americans 20 and older have diabetes
  • Another 37% have pre-diabetes
  • It was 27% a decade ago 

Study analysis of 16 studies on almost 900,000 people worldwide, as published in the Sept/Oct 2014 issue of the journal Diabetologia. As reported on September 15, 2014 by USA Today.
