High blood pressure is the #1 cause of heart disease but is preventable and reversible through diet.
“During this 11-year period, more than 7 million heart disease-related deaths still occurred, including 600,000 deaths in 2010, making heart disease the leading cause of death in the United States. While we are continuing to improve in the overall heart disease death rate, we still have considerable work to do. Coronary heart disease remains the leading cause of heart-disease-related death”
Matthew Ritchey, a CDC epidemiologist, November 2014.
U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention researchers found in 2014:
- Deaths related to high blood pressure and irregular heartbeats are on the rise
- From 2000 to 2010, the overall death rate from high blood pressure-related heart disease increased 1.3% a year
Study by U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention researchers as published in the November 19, 2014 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.
