Supermarkets battle local communities over alcohol sales

A classic case of big business vs. local communities, with local communities losing.

Small communities around NZ are trying to restrict the sale of alcohol (for the sake of their local community), are fighting a losing battle against supermarkets which want to extend their opening hours and just sell more booze, more booze, more booze…

Tasman Mayor Richard Kempthorne says “They have completely missed the point of communities doing what communities feel are best for them”.
