“Alcohol and drug problems totally out of control in the UK”: The 2013 Report by the think-tank the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ), has found that UK alcohol and drug abuse is costing the tax payer 36 billion pounds per year.  The UK is the addiction capital of Europe with; the number of alcohol related hospital admissions doubling in 10 years; a quarter of adults in the UK drinking to dangerous levels; one in 12 or 670,000 15-24 year olds have tried ‘legal highs’, (an increase of 39% since 2005/06) and 52 people died of legal highs last year.  This is one death each week; and there are more female alcoholics in the UK than anywhere else in Europe.  This has caused liver disease to surge into one of the biggest killers in the UK.  As reported by Reuters on September 2, 2013.
