Heart disease risk doubled by those with renal calcification

Adults with renal artery calcification (RAC) have a 63% increase in likelihood for heart disease death – even after adjustment for factors such as age, sex, diabetes, and family history of cardiovascular disease.

What is the take home message here?

Keep your kidneys, blood and bowels clean and clear if you want good heart health.

How do you do that?

Eat a fresh, seasonal, local, plant-based wholefood diet and make lifestyle changes.

Study by Dena Rifkin, MD, and colleagues from the University of California San Diego on 4,450 individuals between 1999-2003, “Renal artery calcification and mortality among clinically asymptomatic adults” as published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology 2012; DOI: 10.1016/j.jacc.2012.06015.  As reported by MedPage Today on September 06, 2012.
