Overweight and obese kids at risk for gallstones
Overweight or obese children and teenagers have 4 TIMES the risk of gallbladder disease.
Also, girls exposed to estrogen from taking oral contraceptives were at notably “very high risk”.
Gallstones form when bile becomes supersaturated with cholesterol, either from increased uptake or synthesis in the liver, as commonly occurs in obesity.
