Fasting with vegetable juice lowers heart disease by 10%
I recommend regular fasting once you are ready for it and after you have been eating well for at least three months. Even one drink of beetroot juice can lower blood pressure as this latest study shows.
The small study involved 30 people who drank half a litre of beetroot juice with a little apple juice. Among both men and women, blood pressure levels dropped six hours after drinking the beetroot juice but in the men the drop was almost 5 points!
This is a staggering result and would equate to a 10% nationwide reduction in deaths due to heart disease if everyone did it.
Researcher Dr. Leah Coles told WebMD “It’s promising that we can see an effect from a single dose. That effect might be even greater over the long term if they are drinking it day upon day”.
Study published in the Nutrition Journal December 2012 issue. The researchers from Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute in Melbourne, Australia, found that within hours of drinking beetroot juice, healthy men had their blood pressure drop by an average of four to five points. Another earlier study published in the March 2012 issue of the British Journal of Nutrition found that beetroot juice was able to reduce blood pressure in a group of 18 men in as little as three hours.
