Vitamin D prevents fractures
Here is yet another study on higher levels of vitamin D in the body lowering the risk of hip fracture.
Doctor Heike Bischoff-Ferrari, of University Hospital in Zurich, and colleagues found that those with the highest levels of vitamin D intake had a 30% reduction in the risk of hip fracture.
The Study by Bischoff-Ferrari HA, et al “A pooled analysis of vitamin D dose requirements for fracture prevention” was published in the New England Journal of Medicine on July 5, 2012; DOI: 10.1056/NEJMoa1109617.
