Chinese centenarians say age is just a number

A great article interviewing and studying many Chinese centenarians and finding that diet, lifestyle, environment and attitude are the keys to their long healthy lives.

The Research
In 2006, the Gerontological Society began identifying the counties and areas where people live the longest healthiest lives – very low disease rates and low drug use in the elderly.  China Daily reported on one area of China with Zhang Tiemei, Deputy Director at the Beijing Institute of Geriatric Medicine at Beijing Hospital saying “The reasons for longevity are very complicated, and current studies have yet to fully uncover them all but those who are long lived do share common features, including a positive mental state and a lower than normal intake of calories”.
