Alcohol age remains at 18 in New Zealand now watch the death and carnage follow
How predictable, how short sighted and how selfish. Where has the backbone gone from the New Zealand parliament? Alcohol causes more damage to New Zealand society than any other drug and this is not under any debate. But when they have a chance to address it what do they do? Nothing.
I hope the members of parliament can look in the mirror and see what they have done – or not done – in 10 years time when the alcohol problem is even worse.
I voted not to lower the drinking age back in 1999 and I feel the same way now. It was a mistake and we have paid dearly for it – just check the pages of the paper every Sunday morning to see the death and carnage young drinking does to our society.
in my upcoming book I have an entire chapter dedicated to alcohol, what it does and how it affects you long term and how the younger you get a taste for it before your brain is fully developed - the worse it is. This goes much deeper than the simple "media friendly bite sized chunk" of the arguement of "I can go to war for my country at 18 therefore I should be allowed to drink".
Two wrongs do not make a right.
