Vegetarian cyclist wins silver in London Olympics 2012

Lizzie Armitstead has been a vegetarian since the age of 10.  She has lived with the long-distance running Kenyans at their training camp for a six month period.  She found them mostly vegetarian, eating brown rice, beans, ugali and green vegetables and rarely, meat.

After staying, studying and learning from the Kenyans, Armitstead returned home to run a marathon in under three hours - her personal record.

Then she won an Olympic Silver Medal at the London Olympics.

Not bad for a plant-eater…
