stay well

“Heart disease, stroke, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, obesity and cancer are more prevalent than ever and increasing every year.  There are literally thousands of scientific journal articles linking all these diseases to nutrition.  Nutrition is the building block of every body, organ, tissue and cell.
It is the foundation of the immune and repair system; the absolute core issue regarding disease,
birth defects, life expectancy, longevity and quality of life.”

Dr Arden Andersen, GP, Author and authority on links between nutrition and health

Plants, plants and more plants…

Leafy green vegetables are the ultimate nutritional superstars, providing us with a unique mixture of super-healthy components that just do not exist in any other food.  Eating vegetables feeds every major organ and vital system you have and supercharges your body’s ability to fight off disease and illness.  Grandma was right and history is right; hundreds of studies scream ‘eat more vegetables!’  There is no shortage of examples proving it.  Raw vegetables have the strongest and most consistent association with reduction of cancers of all types: lung, stomach, prostate, kidney, liver, and colon and breast cancer.  Over 200 scientific studies from 17 countries reviewed by Steinmetz and Potter show that eating a diet high in plant matter reduces the risk of almost every cancer by at least 50%.  Eating at least five servings of vegetables and two servings of fruit daily, combined with a good variety of other plant material such as nuts and seeds, can more than halve the risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

Vegetables protect us

Over 20 years’ worth of large population studies have linked diets high in fruit and vegetables to lower risks of cancer, metabolic syndrome and osteoporosis.  Blood analysis of people eating a vegetable-rich diet reveals an antioxidant status increased by 50%.  This shows a genuine reduction in DNA damage in their bodies, just from eating more vegetables.  In one modern scientific meta-analysis, 128 of 156 studies specifically gave vegetables very beneficial results; protecting against obesity, diabetes and bone diseases.  Clinical studies have also proven that a vegetarian based ‘9-10 servings of fruit and vegetables a day’ diet lowers high blood pressure in just two weeks.  This is the same extent that prescription drugs would but without the nasty side effects and cost.  The bottom line?  Dramatically change your makeup of food towards leafy green vegetables, root vegetables, fresh raw fruits, properly prepared nuts, seeds, wholegrains and legumes and your health will transform.

Eat more vegetables to rebuild your body from the ground up.  To get well and stay well will take time and effort but it is worth it.  If you are serious about living a long healthy life without drugs or disease then eat more plants, eat less overall, regularly fast, walk in the sunshine every day, give up the poison foods, get your bowels working 3 times daily, get enough sleep, lower the stress in your life and give up the crap food.  Now that you have been eating well, you have gotten well and you are staying well, you then move towards exceptional health.  How do you do that?
